Major
& Minor Requirements

All
candidates for a degree
in the College of Arts and
Sciences must follow a program
of study consisting of a
major and minor concentration.
A major concentration is
a series of courses prescribed
by a given department as
being necessary for a major
in that department. A major
ordinarily includes 30 to
39 credits earned in a single
department or in closely
related departments. A minor
concentration is a combination
of courses from other departments
that is designed to broaden
the student’s perspective
and buttress his/her major
area of concentration. A
minor consists of 15 to
18 credits earned in one
or more areas outside the
student’s major department.
