Join the Concert Band

Eligibility

The Concert Band is open to all Howard University students. Student's interested in joining the concert band should contact the Associate Director of Bands, Kelvin W. Washington.

Auditions

Admission into the Concert Band is by audition only. Students interested in joining the Concert Band should prepare an audition which contains the following:

- Major Scales
- Chromatic Scales
- A prepared solo which exhibits your best abilities on your instrument.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available to all students who have been auditioned by the band directors. Scholarships are also awarded on a per year basis at the discretion of the directors based on playing ability and instrumentation until funds are exhausted.

Schedule

The Concert Band rehearses three days a week Fall and Spring semesters: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:10pm - 5:00pm. Students should sign up for the correct class/section of Concert Band (eg. Concert Band I, Concert Band IV, Concert Band VI, etc.) Additional rehearsals and/or sectionals will be scheduled at the discretion of the Director.
