Monday arrive depart from Dulles International for Rome departing at 11:05AM and arriving in Rome (Fiumicino) at PM; transfer from airport by chartered bus for our Hotel Columbus; check-in; late afternoon walking tour of St. Peter’s Square and Basilica; dinner at 7:30PM; after dinner orientation walk in Rome

Tuesday 9:00AM departure by chartered bus from Hotel for the Basilica of Saint Clement; explore the basilica and then on to the Colosseum area for early lunch; after lunch tour the Colosseum, followed by walk through the Roman Forum finishing at the Victor Emanuel Monument; return to Hotel for dinner at 7:30PM; after dinner walking tour of Piazza Navonna and area

Wednesday 8:30AM excursion to Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel; optional ascent of the dome of St. Peter’s basilica; lunch in nearby restaurant; afternoon 3PM departure for the Pantheon, the Piazza Sopra Minerva, the Church of Saint Ignatius, the Piazza Montecitorio, location of the obelisk used in the solarium Augusti, the Piazza Colonna, the fountain of Trevi, the via del corso, the Spanish steps, the Mausoleum of Augustus, the Ara Pacis, dinner and overnight in Hotel

Thursday 8:30AM Departure from Hotel Columbus for the Capitoline Hill and Museum; lunch there; after lunch walk to the Domus Aurea of Nero (if open); tour the remains of the Domus and then walk along the Via Fori Impereali, passing the forums of Vespasian, Domitian, Augustus and Trajan, returning to the Hotel for dinner and overnight; after dinner pack for departure for the south

Friday 8:15AM Departure from Hotel Columbus by chartered bus; drive along west coast with a stop at the villa of the emperor Tiberius at the town of Sperlonga; lunch along the road; continue on to Sorrento for dinner and overnight in hotel; after dinner walking tour of hotel area

Saturday 8:30AM depart from Hotel by chartered bus for the site of Pompeii; explore ruins; lunch in the restaurant inside the ruins; mid-afternoon departure from Pompeii to the slopes of Vesuvius; ascend the volcano (weather and time permitting); return to Sorrento for dinner and overnight in hotel

Sunday Early morning departure from Hotel to the port of Sorrento and board a boat for the island of Capri; arrive in Capri’s northern harbor, the Marina Grande; depart by smaller boat the Blue Grotto (if open); return from visit and ascend via the Funiculare Train to the town of Capri; free time and exploration of that area; then transfer via taxi or bus to Anacapri; lunch there; ascend by chair lift to the top of Monte Solaro; return by taxi or bus to Marina Grande to take early evening boat back to Sorrento for dinner and overnight in hotel

Monday Departure by charter bus for Amalfi Drive; stop and see Amalfi; lunch there; then on to the site of Paestum for dinner and overnight in hotel

Tuesday Full day to explore the site and museum of Paestum; afternoon swim in Mediterranean; dinner and overnight in hotel; after dinner pack for trip north

Wednesday 9AM departure from Paestum for Rome; lunch en route, early afternoon visit of catacombs of San Callistos along with the Appia; from there early evening arrival in Rome for dinner and overnight in hotel; after dinner tour of selected sites

Thursday 9AM departure from hotel for the site of Hadrian’s villa in Tivoli; tour the villa; lunch in nearby restaurant; after-lunch tour the fountains of the Villa D’Este, early evening departure and return to Rome for dinner and overnight in hotel

NOTE: Tips for the cruise are NOT included; add 7 euros per day on the cruise for these important tips which will be charged to your credit card upon disembarkation from the cruise; 3day cruise: 3days x 7e=21 total tip costs.

HOTEL COSTS: All participants are accommodated in double bedded rooms in outstanding hotels noted for their location, service and hospitality; each room has a private bath; breakfast and one full meal are included in these prices; lunches are NOT included

EXCURSION COSTS: all surface transportation costs in Italy, any and all train fees, baggage fees in each city, all transport and museum entrance fees

Classical Odyssies (which will be hereinafter called the CO) and any agents used for the purchase of airspace and ground transportation, acting only as agents for the passengers will not be held responsible or liable for any delay, loss, in jury, damage, accident or irregularity which may be occasioned by reason of defect in any means of conveyance, be it airplane, train, bus, ship, car or for any reason whatsoever or through acts of default of any company or person engaged by the above parties in conveying passengers or in carrying out the arrangements of the trip.
