Untitled
It feels weird
to call myself American
But it's what
I've been all my life
I've just never
been made to admit it
I'm Black; I'm
American
I feel my two-ness
A divide that
should not exist
For American
is all I can be
To just be Black
would not do me justice
For Black is
a vast description
Identifying my
ancestry, but not much of my present
Black is simply
what you see
But for so long
you've used it to define me
You can no longer
see the difference.
