SPORTS MEDICINE
The inter-disciplinary design of the Sports Medicine concentration
offered by the Howard University Department of Health, Human Performance
and Leisure Studies will expose students to an academic program
specifically designed to gain admission into medical school. The
Sports Medicine concentration enables students to develop a working
knowledge of the effects of exercise on the structure and function
of varying physiological systems. Sports medicine is based on the
premise that regular physical activity is important in regulating
the physiological, and biochemical factors in disease prevention
and treatment.
