Quito Swan obtained his Ph.D. in African Diaspora History from Howard University in 2005, and joined the History Department as an Assistant Professor in the Fall of 2006. He currently teaches Black Diaspora I & II. His research interests include the twentieth century Black Power Movement from an international perspective, pan-Africanism through cultural and religious movements (particularly in the Caribbean and South and Central Americas), the Diaspora in the Indian Ocean region, and Africa and the modern African Diaspora. He is currently working on a manuscript focused on Black Nationalism and anti-colonialism in twentieth century Bermuda.
