ABOUT
US - STUDENTS
HONORS
PROGRAM STUDENTS tend
to be students who exercise initiative both inside and outside
of the classroom environment. They enjoy discussing
their ideas and academic experience with other motivated students
in an atmosphere of participation and cooperation. Students actively
participate in the administrative structure through committees
of the student honors organization - CASHA, and representation
on the Honors Council, a standing committee of the College composed
of faculty and students that oversees the Program.
Having a wide variety of interests, Honors Program students in the
College of Arts and Sciences are actively involved in student government,
writing and producing campus periodicals, and in exchange programs
and conferences. Many have double-majors.
Both of our
recent Rhodes Scholars, Carla Peterman – Class
of ’99 and Marianna Ofosu – Class of ’03, are graduates
of the Honors Program.
Many of our
students travel abroad or participate in the domestic exchange
program.
Honors Program
students are athletes, debaters, musicians, campus pals, and dormitory
resident assistants. While in some ways they
are typical Howard University students, they are students who have
accepted a special academic challenge. Most Honors Program students
continue their education in graduate or professional schools. |
