The American Humanics Student Association, the Center for Urban Progress and the State Farm Youth Advisory Board present the DC Senior Scholars Program, a series of workshops designed to prepare high school students, specifically seniors, for College.
The first speaker is Paulette Jackson, Regional Director of Development for the United Negro College Fund, Inc. who will share information regarding scholarships.
Future workshops include writing the successful college essay/personal statement, SAT and ACT preparation and federal student aid which all culminate to the Senior Scholars Conference on November 21, 2009 in the Blackburn Center where high school students and parents hear the college student's perspective on the first-year experience.
Other topics include study skills time management, life in the dormitories, navigating the college campus and so forth. Following the conference, experts in the fields of scholarships and federal student aid will speak to students in parents in December.

Registration for the DC Senior Scholars Program is open. The deadline for the Saturday, October 17, 2009 workshop is Thursday, October 15, 2009.
