Oh! Trinidad
Homepage Introduction About the Authors Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3   Journeys

Oh Trinidad, isle of la trinity

Always there, forever you will be My home,

my heart so free

Away now, I have left you

How could I know, I would bid thee adieu

Shall I return, if only I knew?

Gone are the days of fun

Under familiar skies and the bright sun

Here there is none

Oh Trinidad, my soul aches for you

My life I left and all that I knew

A hole fills me, it goes through and through

Shades of color used to surround me

Carnival brought insane glee

To both pauper and bourgeoisie

My land, my people I see

In my dreams, they are there for me

With open arms, they hear my plea

Once I was lost, Trinidad I found

My navel string buried, to thee I am bound

Away I may be, but, my love remains profound

I travel to lands, both near and far

Our separation I fear may leave a scar

When I return, your welcome eases that mar

Together we aspire, Together we achieve

In these words I do believe

Why then do I grieve?

Time heals all wounds I am told

To this promise I grasp and hold

Till my home before me, I behold
