Paul Milesi Piano Technician (202) 806-4565 Room LVC PR-27 Currently serving as Secretary of the DC Chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild for the 2009-2010 fiscal year. Served as Piano Technician for the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival 2007, 2008 and 2009, tuning for such world renowned pianists as Hank Jones, Geoffrey Keezer, Eddie Palmieri, Danilo Perez and McCoy Tyner, as well as for the many other artists appearing at the Festival, incuding Nasar Abadey, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Sharón Clark, the Duke Ellington Orchestra, La Timbistica, Na'Rimba, Paquito D'Rivera, Christian McBride, and many others. Chosen by Yamaha Corporate Artist Affairs to tune 2009 US Presidential Inaugural events at Martin Luther King Library (feat. Josh Grobin & Herbie Hancock) and the Washington Convention Center (the Neighborhood Ball, tuning for Shakira, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys and Stevie Wonder. Under the auspices of the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival, tuned and repaired the Blair House Mason & Hamlin Model A piano for an exclusive cocktail and dinner reception hosted by then President-Elect and Mrs. Obama the Sunday evening before the 2009 Presidential Inauguration. Tuned for an appearance by saxophonist Kenny G at The Twentieth and Grand Finale Best Buddies Ball, Honoring Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, at the residence of Sargent and Eunice Kennedy Shriver in Potomac, Maryland. Tuned NPR Studio 4A for an interview and recording by cellist Matt Haimovitz and pianist Geoffrey Burleson in September 2008, and for audio and video recordings by jazz pianist ELEW (Eric Lewis) in June 2009. Both programs aired as part of “All Things Considered,” and are archived and accessible on the NPR website. Tuned at the Mandarin Hotel for events including three Lupus Foundation of America Annual Awards Galas (Jennifer Hudson 2007, Patti LaBelle 2008, Mary Wilson 2009); Eric Holder’s wife’s birthday party (solo appearance by R&B artist Kem); and the Presidential Suite piano for stays by Barbara Streisand and Diana Krall. Tuned at Bohemian Caverns jazz club for engagements by Davell Crawford, Roberta Flack and Ron Carter (feat.pianist Stephen Scott). Passed written, repair, regulation and tuning exams to earn Registered Piano Technician (RPT) status in the Piano Technicians Guild in June 2008. At the 50th Annual Convention of the Piano Technicians Guild in Kansas City, MO in June 2007, in addition to attending classes and presentations on the latest in piano technology, was a featured performer in four mini- concerts on Bechstein, Bösendorfer, Fazioli and Sauter pianos of unique design. |
