Paul Schultz, Associate Professor Trombone Music Theory (202) 806-5826 Room LVC 3040
Paul Schultz, Lecturer (Trombone, Music Theory), a well-known Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD area trombonist, performs in symphonic, operatic, musical theater, and commercial musical styles. Retired from The U.S. Army Band in Washington, DC, he is now Bass trombonist with The National Gallery Orchestra, Baltimore Opera Company, Concert Artists of Baltimore and Washington Symphonic Bass Ensemble. As staff trombonist, he performs regularly with the Filene Center Orchestra of Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, National Theater, Ford's Theater, Arena Stage, and the Baltimore Center Orchestra. As a substitute and extra trombonist, he has performed with the National Symphony and John F. Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra. Media recording engagements have included network and cable television specials such as "An American Celebration at Ford's Theater", "Classic Whitney" (with Whitney Houston), "The 53rd Presidential Inaugural Gala", Disney's "American Teacher Awards" and "Larry King Live." Paul earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Catholic University of America in 1987. He has been on the faculty of Howard University since 1991 and at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA from 1981 to 2002. He has studied with Milton Stevens, Charles Vernon, Frank Crisafulli, Arnold Jacobs, and Doug Elliott. |
