Evaluation Factors

Judges shall evaluate oral and poster presentations for each division based on the following criteria.

CONTENT (the research)
  1. Well-stated hypothesis and/or clear statement of the problem
  2. Clear statement of research methodology and/or theoretical frame of reference
  3. Effective use of supportive research data & Interpretation of findings clear
  4. Contribution to the field through new knowledge or more enhanced understanding
  5. Clear statement of conclusion and implication of the findings
SKILLS (the project)
  1. The presenter appeared knowledgeable and informed.
  2. Presenter was engaging and enthusiastic.
  3. The material was presented in an organized, coherent fashion.
    For Posters—visual appeal, organization & flow.
  4. Student was articulate, focused, and maintained good eye contact with audience.
  5. Where appropriate, technology was used effectively during presentation. Presenter responded knowledgeably to audience questions.

Judges will not necessarily be professors from the presenter's department. At the conclusion of the competition, judges will select first, second, and third place winners.
