Welcome
to the Graduate Program
---------------------------------------------
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is
a vibrant and diverse department offering both the
M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Sociology. We offer a
variety of courses that give students comprehensive
training in social theory, research methodology
and statistics. In addition, the Department offers
courses in Medical Sociology, Criminology, Urban
Sociology and Social Inequality: Race/Ethnicity,
Class, and Gender/Sexuality.
The graduate program reflects the historical context
and today’s globalized world by examining
the macrostructures and their influence on social
institutions and everyday realities. A major focus
of the program is the application of this analysis
to issues of race, class and gender and to African
Americans in particular.
