JACK KENT COOKE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP:



The JACK KENT COOKE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP is offered to graduating seniors and recent graduates who intend to begin their graduate or professional degree programs in Fall 2007. The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation expects to select 65 scholarship recipients from among the more than 1,200 persons who will be nominated. The scholarships will defray a portion of the recipients' cost of attendance, including tuition, fees, books, and living expenses, in the program of their choice. The maximum amount of each award is $50,000 per year for a maximum of six years. The dollar amount of the award varies by each person's actual cost of attendance and the value of other scholarships each receives.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:

Be a Senior or a recent graduate

Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5

Plan to attend graduate or professional school full-time beginning in Fall 2007

Selection criteria include:

Academic achievement

Unmet financial need

Determination to succeed

Leadership and public service

Critical thinking ability

Participation in or strong appreciation for the arts and humanities

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship competition is sponsored by the US Department of State. Undergraduate students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding at 2-year or 4-year colleges or universities are eligible to apply. Application deadline is September 26, 2006. 777 scholarships of up to $5,000 will be awarded this academic year for US citizen undergraduates to study abroad. Award amounts will vary depending on the length of study and student need with the average award being $4,000.
