It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of
Dr. Sherrill Berryman Johnson.  Despite her recent attendance at the 2010 IABD Conference in Philadelphia, PA her condition worsened, and she transitioned from her battle with breast cancer this afternoon,
March 24, 2010 in her home surrounded by her closest family and friends.  You will be happy to hear that her final few weeks were full of joy and laughter; and despite her condition, she felt little pain and did not endure any suffering.  I am coordinating her memorial service, and a date will be forthcoming.

MEMORIAL SERVICE INFORMATION

On Monday, April 5, 2010, 12:00pm, the Memorial Service for
Dr. Sherrill Berryman Johnson will take place at the Howard University
Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel located at Sixth Street and Howard Place, NW, Washington, DC 20059. The Repast will immediately follow in the Andrew Carnegie Building, 2395 Sixth Street, NW, Washington, DC  20059, on The University’s campus.

On Tuesday, April 6, 2010, 11:00am, the Internment at Fort Lincoln Cemetery for Family Members and Friends will take place. All are invited.

In lieu of flowers, individual monetary contributions should be sent to Phyllis Van Hoose (12054 Hallandale Terrace, Mitchellville, MD 20721) or Ernest Johns (15205 Plane Tree Court, Bowie, MD 20721), Trustees of Sherrill's estate. Additionally, for those who wish to support continuation of Sherrill's "Images of Cultural Artistry, Inc.", as well as continuation of the Summer Dance Intensive, Workshops, and Legendary Dance Artist Master Series of the Howard University, Department of Theatre Arts, Dance Program, send your contributions to one of the above Trustees. Please indicate to which area you wish to direct your contributions.
